Project: Digitalization and Automation of Vesimentor OÜ

Project Summary

Vesimentor OÜ is an Estonian-owned manufacturing and product development company that began operations in 1997. The company specializes in the production of plastic products and has established a strong export portfolio, reflecting the high quality and international competitiveness of its products.
The goal of this project is to increase production efficiency and flexibility through digitalization and automation. Wider implementation of digital solutions will optimize production planning, enable real-time feedback from manufacturing processes, support more efficient production scheduling, and allow for faster delivery times to customers.

Objective

The main objective of the project is to streamline the entire operational process—from sales order management to final product delivery—by reducing the need for manual labor, accelerating and improving the accuracy of production data collection, and automating monotonous tasks. A key focus is the automation of visual quality control processes. Additionally, the project aims to digitalize and automate production planning and implement real-time monitoring of machine performance, which will enhance overall productivity, quality, and responsiveness. Improved planning methods based on digital data will allow the company to quickly adjust production in response to changing needs.

Result

As a result of the project, valuable production time will be freed up, making it possible to increase output. The company’s ability to respond rapidly and redirect production will improve significantly. Specific outcomes include the digitalization of work instructions, improved product quality and productivity through the integration of new injection molding machines, and an increase in added value per employee. The company's competitiveness will strengthen through the ability to maintain or improve product pricing in the current economic climate. The project will also lead to increased use of robotics, greater transparency in production performance, and shorter delivery times, all of which are crucial for gaining a competitive edge and scaling up production.

Funding

The project is funded by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU initiative, with a total amount of €351,680.

Project:Digitisation Roadmap for Vesimentor OÜ

Brief description:

The aim of the digitalisation roadmap is to develop options for optimising operations and eliminating bottlenecks by analysing the company's current activities and processes. In the framework of this project, Vesimentor OÜ will draw up a roadmap.

The digitalisation roadmap is a strategy document with a three-year action plan for the company, which includes an assessment of the company's digitalisation, automation and the investments required to remove bottlenecks in these areas, an assessment of the return on investment and the impact of the digitalisation roadmap and the changes made as a result of its implementation on the company's business results, as well as an assessment of the cyber security needs arising from the digitalisation proposals.

Objective:

The Digital Roadmap will set out a plan for achieving the objectives, a roadmap for the next three years and an assessment of the impact of digitalisation on the business's financial performance, developed in collaboration between the business and external consultants. The digital roadmap will serve as a basis for the company's management to plan the further digitalisation of the company.

The main objective of the further digitisation project is to increase the competitiveness and sustainability of Vesimentor OÜ through digitisation. This includes improving the efficiency of production processes, reducing costs and improving the quality of products and services.

Result:

The project will result in a detailed digital roadmap covering all key areas of the business. This will support the company's productivity growth, reduce human error and ensure better traceability in production processes.

Amount of support:

The project will be co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for an amount of €7000.

Vesimentor is starting to use sustainable Biocomposite

Working in a plastic industry makes us also looking for a new circular and more environmentally friendly materials because we want to make our contribution to the environment. We started doing research in 2021 and found something very interesting – it is called “Biocomposite by Stora Enso”. You might ask what makes it interesting? It is made of plastic and up to 50% of wooden fibers and wood raw material is harvested from sustainably managed forests.

Material is cost effective to produce and it reduces CO2 up to 80%, this means less pollution for the environment. It is lightweight but strong, because natural fibers are in low density, which results in a higher specific tensile strength and stiffness than glass fibers. It is suitable for injection moulding and it can be recycled and re-used up to 7x without losing any mechanical properties. With Stora Enso climate smart compounds, it is possible to replace up to 32 million tons of plastics!

Most of materials can be purchased in combination with a circular business model. In most cases they can offer you repurchase of old and used product for reprocessing into new product.

There are many various applications for this material, It is already used in furniture and interior, storage and logistics, Industrial component, consumer goods, lifestyle products and food contact plastics.

Vesimentor starts testing Biocomposite in Q1 2022 and our goal is to find out if this material can be used also in a luminaire industry.

Do You think Biocomposite is something what you can use in Your product? For further information, please contact info@vesimentor.ee

We will support You from design phase up to mass production.

Stay tuned and let’s make world better together!
