Lighting & Visual

Vesimentor is a vertically integrated plastic component partner for European lighting brands, sensor and optics manufacturers, and producers of high-end visual and decorative products. We design, mould, finish, metallize, lacquer, assemble and ship — under one roof in Pärnu, Estonia, with a single quality system and a single point of accountability.

One supplier for moulded, metallized and assembled visual components

Lighting, sensor and premium visual products share a common production challenge: the plastic component is rarely the end of the road. A reflector needs to be moulded, then primed, then metallized, then top-coated, then trimmed, then assembled into a luminaire. A sensor optic needs precise injection moulding plus functional metallizing plus protective lacquer. A premium decorative trim needs a flawless substrate, a mirror-finish coating and a tinted top-coat. Coordinating four or five separate suppliers for one decorative or optical part adds cost, lead time, quality variation and an extra NDA at every handover.

Vesimentor performs every step in-house. Injection moulding in technical thermoplastics — ABS, PC, PC/ABS, PMMA, PA, with glass-filled and mineral-filled grades for structural and optical requirements. Vacuum forming for large diffuser shells and lighting housings up to 1.4 × 1.4 m. Vacuum metallizing (PVD aluminium deposition) for chrome, gold, copper and bronze finishes — including custom-tinted top-coats for the precise colour and gloss your application requires. CNC trimming for inlets, mounting features and edge finish. Ultrasonic welding for housing closure and FIPFG foam-gasket sealing for IP-rated assemblies. Plus tampoprint, in-line inspection and final assembly.

Reflectors, sensor mirrors and optical surfaces

Vacuum metallizing on plastic substrate is a surface process — final appearance, adhesion and weatherability depend directly on the moulded part underneath. Flow lines, sink marks, release-agent residue, surface roughness, moisture absorption and out-of-tolerance dimensions all degrade the metallized layer and the protective top-coat. When moulding and metallizing happen in the same facility — as they do at Vesimentor — we control the substrate from pellet to coated part: material grade selection, release-agent choice, post-conditioning, cleanliness and the time window between moulding and deposition. For the customer this means one specification, one process validation, one supplier-quality agreement — and a finished optical surface that retains its gloss, adhesion and decorative appearance over the full product lifetime.

Typical reflector and sensor-optic outputs include high-gloss chrome reflectors for luminaire applications, parabolic and faceted reflector geometries for LED downlights and spotlights, sensor mirrors with functional metallizing for presence and photoelectric sensors, and tinted top-coat finishes (custom colours, satin, semi-matt) for design-led decorative applications.

Premium visual and decorative components

Beyond functional optics, vacuum metallizing with a clear or tinted top-coat creates the high-gloss chrome, gold, copper and bronze finishes used on premium consumer products, automotive interior trim, packaging accents and architectural detailing. Our process is REACH-compliant, free of hexavalent chromium, and produces no heavy-metal galvanic effluent — lower environmental and compliance risk for EU customers compared to traditional electroplating.

For applications where the visual finish is paired with a structural or sealing requirement — illuminated decorative panels, switch-gear bezels, signal indicators, control-room components — the moulded substrate, metallized surface, top-coat lacquer, ultrasonic-welded closure and FIPFG environmental seal are all produced and assembled in our facility, against one quality record.

Materials, finishes and process validation

Substrate selection — typically ABS, PC, PC/ABS, PMMA, PA, with glass- or mineral-filled grades where structural or thermal duty requires — is made jointly with the customer based on the part's mechanical, optical, thermal and downstream-process requirements. Top-coat lacquer systems include UV-curing and solvent-based clear and tinted formulations with UV stabilisers and abrasion resistance tailored to the operating environment. Material qualification protocols, process parameters and batch traceability records can be maintained for each production run by agreement — supporting customer audits, PPAP submissions and product-lifecycle change control.

Vesimentor is certified to ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) and AQAP 2110 (NATO Quality Requirements for Design, Development and Production). The combination of vertically-integrated moulding-and-metallizing with AQAP 2110 governance is exceptionally rare among Baltic and Nordic plastic contract manufacturers.

Why customers choose an integrated partner

  • One quality record, one delivery, one accountable partner — instead of coordinating an injection moulder, a separate metallizing house, a CNC shop and an assembly subcontractor.
  • Substrate control — vacuum metallizing only on parts we have moulded ourselves, the only reliable way to guarantee adhesion, gloss and long-term decorative performance.
  • REACH-compliant chrome-free process — no hexavalent chromium, no galvanic heavy-metal effluent, no regulated wastewater. Lower environmental and compliance risk for EU customers.
  • Nearshoring to Northern and Central Europe — Pärnu offers short lead times and direct road and ferry links across the EU, with EU-grade IP protection and communication.
  • Defence-grade quality system — ISO 9001 + ISO 14001 + AQAP 2110, fully auditable end-to-end. A combination exceptionally rare among regional plastic suppliers and a qualifying credential for safety-critical and design-led brand customers alike.
  • Customer confidentiality respected — we operate under bilateral NDA with our customers and do not disclose customer names, brand identities or programme detail in marketing materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

What plastic components does Vesimentor produce for lighting OEMs?
We produce the full optical and structural plastic content of a luminaire — reflectors with PVD chrome / gold / custom-tint metallizing and top-coat lacquer, parabolic and faceted reflector geometries for LED downlights and spotlights, vacuum-formed and injection-moulded diffusers and lenses, lamp housings in ABS, PC and PC/ABS, sensor optical mirrors with functional metallizing, light-pipe injection mouldings and assembled luminaire sub-modules with ultrasonic welding and FIPFG environmental sealing. All produced, finished and assembled in one facility against one quality record.
How does vacuum metallizing compare to electroplated chrome for lighting reflectors?
Vacuum metallizing (PVD aluminium deposition) gives a mirror-finish chrome appearance without hexavalent chromium, without galvanic effluent and without the heavy-metal regulatory burden of traditional electroplating. The process is REACH-compliant and has become the standard for indoor and protected-outdoor lighting reflectors, sensor optics and decorative components. For extreme outdoor exposure over decades electroplated chrome remains the more durable choice, but for the lighting, sensor and visual applications most European OEMs deal with, vacuum metallizing is the lower-risk, lower-environmental-impact route.
Can Vesimentor supply tinted top-coat finishes — custom colours, satin, gloss levels?
Yes. Top-coat lacquer systems are selected jointly with the customer and include UV-curing and solvent-based clear and tinted formulations. Standard outcomes are mirror-finish chrome, gold, copper and bronze; custom tints and gloss levels are produced against colour reference, appearance sample or specification. Top-coat colour, gloss and abrasion resistance are matched to the part’s service environment — indoor / outdoor, UV exposure, chemical contact and abrasion.
Does Vesimentor name its lighting OEM customers?
No. Vesimentor manufactures plastic components for leading European lighting brands and operates under bilateral non-disclosure agreements that protect customer identities, programme detail and design content. We can describe our capability against application categories — luminaires, downlights, spotlights, sensor optics, decorative components — without disclosing specific brand or programme information.
What sensor optical components does Vesimentor produce?
We mould and metallize sensor mirrors and reflective elements for presence sensors, photoelectric sensors, ADAS-style optical components and similar functional optical applications. Functional metallizing focuses on reflectivity and signal stability rather than purely decorative gloss; substrate selection, deposition parameters and protective lacquer are all tuned to the optical performance the sensor requires. As with all our metallized work, the substrate is moulded in-house — the only reliable route to consistent optical performance.
Does Vesimentor ship to Nordic, DACH and other European OEMs?
Yes. Pärnu has direct truck and ferry links to Helsinki, Stockholm, Riga, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich and continental Europe. As an EU member state — no customs delays, no Far-East lead times, EU-grade intellectual property protection and EU-grade communication. We deliver as a single supplier, single delivery and single quality record across the European market.
